This sector is currently undergoing a profound transformation. Among the current issues, we can mention :

  • the evolution of consumption patterns and occasions, the search for greater naturalness and a diet that promotes health throughout life
  • food and health safety, the challenges of traceability and transparency on the origin, quality and production conditions of food
  • new societal expectations, in particular :
  • reduction of environmental impact,
  • energy efficiency (including cooling)
  • improvement of working conditions
  • consideration of animal welfare
  • fair remuneration for producers
  • reduction of waste
  • digital technology, which is revolutionizing the link with the consumer and offering new industrial and commercial opportunities (Foodtech)
  • the challenge for the agri-food industry to be more resilient.

FranceAgriMer innovation competition theme: intelligent food

FranceAgriMer-Innovation-Contest

In order to support this important sector and to accompany its transformation, the public authorities have set up financial mechanisms to encourage innovation. Among these, the i-Nov innovation competition plays a significant role by co-financing ambitious projects with high potential. FranceAgriMer* is in charge of studying the applications.

In this 4th wave of the competition, FranceAgriMer expects innovation projects creating new food products or ingredients, equipment and services associated withintelligent food:

  • prebiotics, probiotics, fermented foods, protein-rich foods using new extraction technologies, new formulations and new resources, innovative products for specific diets, organically certifiable ingredients and innovative foods from organic farming
  • control solutions aimed at ensuring traceability, limiting health risks, and reducing losses, based in particular on digital technologies and decision support tools
  • innovative equipment, processes and technological solutions for the production, processing, preservation and marketing of food products, consumption and the fight against food waste
  • more efficient packaging: new materials, active and/or intelligent packaging.
