A key to financing innovation: intelligence

On a daily basis, I look for important and strategic information for my clients and to stay on top of innovation news, innovation financing and new technologies.

More precisely, I carry out a daily watch, a search for information on the new financial devices of the innovation and the calls for project. This allows me to be proactive in order to offer my clients financial levers adapted to their projects.

I also seek information for the realization of the state of the art, an essential component of the files of obtaining financing of the innovation. This allows us to show that our clients' innovations are completely new and unprecedented. They are especially important to justify a Research Tax Credit (RTC).

Finally, I look for information to carry out market studies, explore the existing and monitor future trends to build up Innovation Tax Credit (ITC) files. This also allows me to go beyond financial aid by studying the economic feasibility of my client's projects when launching new products or services on the market.

Freeing up time for the core of the project

Searching for information is a particularly time-consuming task. Just type a few words in the search bar to receive an incredible amount of information, not always relevant and for which a lifetime would not be enough to analyze it. We call it infobesity.

Moreover, when we search for information (most often on Google), the search engine pushes information related to your keywords, but especially the information it wants to show you and those for which it is paid. Moreover, AIs use cookies to establish our "profiles" and thus push us information in adequacy with the latter while limiting the access to content that seems to be in inadequacy with the information that we usually look for.

Don't panic, there are solutions, methods and tricks to search for relevant and strategic information faster and free up your time! One of them is called Boolean language. This language is composed of "connectors" to be placed in the search bar to establish a query.

For example:

When I search for "building energy prediction", I often find articles on corporate buildings, shopping malls... when I am only looking for residential ones.

The "-" function before the unwanted terms allows me to remove all the results, "it's a very positive minus" according to Gabriel Vallejo!

Another example:

I'm looking for information on airport digital twins. A digital twins is a virtual replica of a physical asset, process, location or system, and I don't want to waste my time reading articles where the topic is only covered in one line. So I type in "ALLINTITLE: digital twins airport passengers flow" to find the articles whose core topic is what I am looking for.

A universal and efficient technique

Boolean language is applicable on all search engines! If it is particularly efficient on the Google search engine, it also works on the "Duck Duck Go" search engines, Ecosia or even sites like Twitter.

It allows you to find more relevant information, in less time!

By using Boolean language in search engines like Duck Duck Go via Tor for example, you can access the "deep web" or invisible web (not Dark net!) which represents 550 times more information than the visible web we are used to.

Thanks to these techniques (and to the experience of the consultant!), we are able to put together better quality files in a relatively short period of time, responding to the urgent situations that our clients face on a daily basis.

We estimate that we save 2/3 of the time previously spent on innovation research by using this method.

We propose to explain what Boolean language is with the infographic below. To make it easier to understand this language, we have compared Boolean language to the composition of a salad.

It is not that which makes the whole file, obviously, the experience of the consultant is what makes the difference and guarantees the success of the files, that does not prevent us from being always in search of tools and techniques which make save time to us and thus to our customers.
